ESPRIT HOLDINGS LIMITED (“Esprit” or “the Group”; HKEx: 330) is delighted to announce that it has reached a three-year cooperation agreement with The Hong Kong Golf Association (HKGA), and Esprit will become the title sponsor of the Hong Kong Ladies Amateur Open & Mid Amateur Championships for the next three years.

Esprit is no stranger to local golf development. Having been a supporter of the HKGA financially for many years, the international fashion brand is helping organize a wide range of junior tournaments dedicated to allowing local talent and elite young golfers to learn from each other and improve their skills. With such initiatives, Esprit has shown a great eagerness in assisting the continued development of golf in Hong Kong.

"We are extremely excited about becoming the title sponsor of this ladies amateur golf tournament," said Thomas Tang, Executive Director & Group Chief Financial Officer of Esprit Holdings Limited.  "This opportunity perfectly embodies the spirit of the Esprit women— confident, daring and energized by doing what they love and loving what they do."

Nishi Yoshihiro, President of the HKGA added, "We welcome Esprit Holdings Limited as the title sponsor for the next three years Ladies Amateur Open & Mid Amateur Championships. Whilst they have been supporting the HKGA for many years, we are delighted that they have decided to get behind ladies amateur golf in Hong Kong."

A strong field of amateur golfers from Hong Kong and across the region is expected at this year’s Esprit Hong Kong Ladies Open Amateur & Mid Amateur Championships. In the 2015 edition, although Princess Mary Superal from Philippines emerged victorious, local favourites Tiffany Chan, Mimi Ho, Michelle Cheung and Isabella Leung excelled and showed their great abilities in finishing 2nd to 4th. Mimi won the Close Amateur Championship and finished runner-up in the Open Amateur Championship with a bogey-free round on the final day.  Tiffany went on to win the 2016 Hong Kong Ladies Open at Fanling and became Hong Kong's first ever golfing Olympian in Rio 2016.  She used these events to spring board her professional career and is now a regular player on the Symetra ladies professional tour in the US.

The 2017 Esprit Ladies Amateur Open & Mid Amateur Championships will be played next week at the Hong Kong Golf Club, Fanling, September 13 - 15.
