Statement on the Hong Kong Open - HKGA

Posted: Wednesday, 20 Nov 2019

Dear Stakeholders,

The European Tour and Asian Tour have today announced the postponement of next week’s Hong Kong Open, which was to be played between 28 November and 1 December at Hong Kong Golf Club, citing concerns regarding the safety of their players and other tournament stakeholders.

Although disappointing, the decision is one that we at the Hong Kong Golf Association (HKGA) must respect.

The HKGA is now working together with the Tours and the Hong Kong Golf Club with the hope being that the 61st edition of the championship can be played early in the new year.

We are certain that you will have questions surrounding the consequences of the tournament’s postponement, and to that end we will be communicating more definitive information in the days and weeks ahead.

On behalf of us all at the HKGA, we thank you for your understanding and support in this matter.

With kindest regards,

Hong Kong Golf Association
