With the exception of the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021, the HKGA hosts more than 30 local tournaments for amateur players annually, offering golf lovers numerous opportunities to play in a competitive environment and lift their games. Most of these local tournaments are held without government subvention and are funded by tournament fees, commercial sponsorships and contributions from constituent clubs.

The economic downturn and venue closures have significantly affected the sports sector and its ability to generate revenues. Despite the difficult environment and uncertain outlook, the HKGA considers it a priority to ensure the sustainability of the organisation and continue carrying out its mission of promoting golf in Hong Kong. As the HKGA has a very lean structure, however, there is very limited room for further cost-cutting.

Earlier we embarked on a review of our operations, which also covered all of the HKGA's fees. Our fees are important sources of revenue that enable us to expand our existing programmes and carry out new ones. These fees have remained the same over the past five years.

At the same time, to ensure that the HKGA can continue fulfilling its mission to promote golf in Hong Kong and groom talented athletes, we will continue to explore new, innovative ways to deliver our programmes more effectively. We will be sure to keep all of you abreast of new developments in this regard.
